How to isolate vocals from a song

01

Choose a clear recording

Select a local MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A or OGG that you own or have permission to process. Use your clearest available version, up to 10 minutes and 100 MB. Preview the phrase you want to hear before uploading.

02

Isolate the voice once

Confirm your audio rights and select Isolate vocals. AI separation creates a combined vocal track and an instrumental from the same recording. Both results appear here, with Vocals selected first.

03

Compare a phrase and save it

Switch between Vocals and Original at the same playback position. Check a quiet line and a busy chorus for missing words or instrument bleed, then download the full Vocals WAV before its temporary link expires.

MADE FOR YOUR NEXT STEP

Listen to the vocal before learning a part

Find the singer’s entrance

Play a short phrase in the original, then switch to Vocals to hear where the singer starts and releases each note. Keep the source nearby: the isolated voice is a listening aid, not a timing grid or automatic transcription.

Check diction and quiet detail

Listen to breaths, soft consonants and the ends of sustained notes. Compare those details with the original before practising them. Separation can soften or remove sounds; it does not supply a lyric sheet.

Hear harmonies in context

The vocal track can contain lead singing, harmonies, doubles and reverb together. Compare it with the instrumental to understand the arrangement. You cannot select an individual singer from this combined output.

Check what the vocal isolator kept

Voice continuity

Listen across the whole phrase, including breaths and long tails. Watery notes or missing syllables can make a stem less useful for learning. A clearer source may help, but a clean studio vocal is not guaranteed.

Sounds between the words

Instrument attacks, cymbals or room sound may remain between vocal phrases. Listen with headphones at a comfortable level and compare the same moment in the original before treating it as part of the singer’s performance.

A reference you can keep

Save the vocal and check the downloaded WAV in your own player. An export from a compressed recording cannot restore detail that was already lost. Keep your source file for future comparisons.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW

Vocal Isolator: FAQ

What does a vocal isolator do?

A vocal isolator estimates the voice in a mixed recording and separates it from the accompaniment. Here you get a combined Vocals WAV and an Instrumental WAV. The isolated voice can help you study phrasing and diction; it is not the original studio vocal recording.

How is vocal isolation different from vocal removal?

Vocal isolation focuses on hearing the voice. Vocal removal focuses on the music left underneath it. Both use the same two-track separation here, so you can switch outputs and download both without processing your recording twice.

Can I isolate speech or one backing singer?

This tool is designed for musical vocal separation. It does not identify individual speakers or deliver separate lead and backing singers. Speech, choirs, dense harmonies and room noise can produce variable results; compare the complete vocal with the original.

Does the vocal isolator give me lyrics, notes or a dry vocal?

It returns audio only. It does not transcribe lyrics, detect notes or musical key, remove reverb on demand or recreate missing detail. Harmonies and effects may remain with the voice. Use the WAV as a listening reference and check it by ear.

Is the full WAV download free?

Yes. Completed jobs include both full-length WAV tracks, with no account, email address or payment required. The allowance is up to 5 jobs per browser per day, shared across our separation pages and reset at midnight UTC. Each file must be no longer than 10 minutes and no larger than 100 MB. Network safeguards and site-wide capacity limits also apply.

Which files and links can I use?

Choose a mono or stereo MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A or OGG file your browser can play. Use audio you own or have permission to process. YouTube, Spotify and SoundCloud links are not accepted. Separation does not grant rights to publish someone else’s recording.

How long can I access the files?

Download links expire 55 minutes after processing finishes. Uploads are private, temporarily stored and deleted automatically; that does not extend the download window. Save your WAVs promptly. See the privacy policy for retention details.

Do I need to separate again after a refresh?

This browser can recover its latest two-track job using an essential temporary cookie, including when you move between the homepage and these two-track pages. Check the existing job before submitting another. Recovery does not start a new separation, and a local original preview is not restored after a refresh.
